History of Canadian Forces Medical Service The heritage and traditions that underlie the Royal Canadian Medical Service (RCMS) and its predecessor, the Canadian Forces Medical Service (CFMS), are its lifeblood. They embody certain ideals of service and provide a framework for members to work together as part of a highly disciplined and cohesive team. The continuing observance of military and medical traditions handed down by earlier generations will empower the RCMS to live up to its longstanding reputation of excellence.
